So I made this piece for [link] ´s re-design challenge at He-man.org. The theme was of course She-Ra as you might see. :P If you however don't know who she is you can click this link ->[link]

She-Ra is not one of my favorite characters from the He-man universe BUT the thing i do love is a challenge. So I decided to participate. My goal was to re-create her image rather than just her gear. I wanted to take all those cute and cuddly things that made She-Ra and mix it up with my own take to it. So my She-Ra is a warrior queen who kicks ass and sometimes slashes the heads of her foes.

I had a blast painting this, all the creepy craziness was awesome to paint. I hope you guys dig it as much as I loved painting it. ENJOY!

FOR AN ALT. VERSION WITH EVEN MORE GIRL POWER

I like She-Ra herself, but I admit her biggest flaw was all the annoyingly cute and cuddly crap that pervaded her series. She-Ra was meant to be He-Man for girls obviously, but it didn't need to be flooded with stuff better suited to My Little Pony or something (the old toy commercials for her on youtube definitely do not focus on her Wonder Woman like strength or war against the forces of evil). She herself was as badass as He-Man, but the majority of her allies were characters like Perfuma & Peekablue and annoying stuff like that. He-Man got badass allies like Man-At-Arms, Teela, Roboto, Zodak, Ram Man, the Sorceress, etc, while She-Ra had backup from glorified barbie dolls (designed to look pretty but did not give off the vibe of heroes fighting a war to reclaim their planet lol)...She had a handful of good allies, or good concepts for them at least, but the rest were not on par with the Masters of the Universe heroes. Then ya had the sidekicks like Madame Razz, Cowl (a flying Furbie lol), a Talking Broom...The list goes on XD

I'd like to see a modern take on She-Ra with better backup for her, I think it could be pulled off well nowadays. However, to be fair, She-Ra's villains were AWESOME (Hordak, Shadow Weaver, Catra, Leech, the list goes on...Kinda wish Skeletor would poach some of them for his crew lol), as was the concept of a hero fighting an uphill battle against an evil army that had already conquered the planet she was protecting. She-Ra's struggle against the Horde could be delightfully dark and intense, more so than it was allowed to be in the 80s.

P.S. nice touch with Grizzlor's head there, that's what he gets for being a Beastman knockoff with no special powers XD
